Planting and Storage Instructions

BULBS WILL BLOOM IN THEIR FIRST SUMMER

IMPORTANT: IF YOU CAN’T PLANT RIGHT AWAY FOLLOW THESE STORAGE INSTRUCTIONS:

Place the bag in the back and bottom part of your refrigerator (coldest spot).

DO NOT FREEZE! Keep bulbs moist, but not wet, sprinkle with water if they look dry. Bulbs will slowly begin to sprout, but will store well for several weeks. For best results, plant as soon as possible or when the ground is workable, do not wait for the last frost. Be careful not to break the sprouts or you will not get any flowers.

BULB PLANTING INSTRUCTIONS: Bulb Planting
  • Do not wait for the last frost, plant as soon as possible or when the ground is workable.
  • Location: The more sun the better (at least 50% sun) in an area that drains well.
  • Spacing: Lilies look best planted in groups of 3-5 bulbs with 4-6 inches between each bulb. Groups should be spaced 1-2 feet apart.
  • Depth: Dig a hole so that 4 to 6 inches of soil will cover the top of the bulb.
  • Watering: Keep ground moist, but not soaked.
  • Fertilizing: Use any bulb fertilizer found at most garden centers. (Not necessary if the soil is rich).
  • Leave the foliage after the lilies flower, cut it back to ground level when it dies in the fall.
BULBS MUST REMAIN IN THE GROUND OVER THE WINTER. A light mulch over the bulbs during the winter would be beneficial.
